Kashmir Food and Cultural festivals inaugurated

Hyderabad, Feb, 20 (UNI) Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Raymond Peter today inaugurated the five-day Kashmir food and cultural festival in the city.

The festival would bring forth Kashmiri Cuisine(Wazwan) prepared by expert Chefs, who had been flown in from Srinagar and organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation(JKTDC).

The Managing Director of the JKTDC Aziz Wani said after creating waves in New Delhi and Bangalore, the festival had reached Hyderabad to add more spice to the Hyderabadi food lovers with its ethnic cuisine and culture. 'We have received tremendous response from the people of this southern states which shows their love for Kashmir and its ethnic cuisine and culture,'' Mr Wani said.

The General Manager of the JKTDC Fayaz Ahmed Bala said ''we are satisfied that we have succeeded in our mission to showcase the positives and good things of Kashmir at one side and countering the negative hype on the other side.'' The organising of Kashmir Food and Cultural festivals in India and abroad was an initiative from Ministry of Tourism Government of India to promote Kashmiri Cuisine, Craft and Culture in the world.

Governor mourns loss of life

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 20 (UNI) Kerala Governor R L Bhatia today mourned the loss of lives in the boat tragedy at Thattekkadu in Ernakulam District. In a condolence message, he said, ''I am deeply shocked and saddened at the boat tragedy at Thattekkadu that has claimed several tender lives. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. ''Let us spare no effort to rescue the missing children and extend every support to the families in distress,'' he added. UNI.....

Mangalore water situation likely to be normal by Sunday

Mangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) The 'water crisis' being faced by the city is expected to be eased by Sunday, with the reinstallation of repaired pumps in the Thumbe reservior pumping station being completed this noon. Talking to newspersons at Thumbe, city Mayor Vijaya Arun said the three pumps, damaged due to a non-reversible valve burst following submerging of the 750 HP pipes in Netravathi river water on Tuesday last, were repaired in Mysore and reinstalled. Pumping of water had begun.....

Prasanthi Exp to run from Bhubaneshwar

Vijayawada, Feb 20 (UNI) The Prasanthi express, operating from Visakhapatnam to Bangalore, would hereafter leave from Bhubaneshwar. A South Central Railway (SCR) official told UNI here that the express train which left Bhubaneshwar at 0415 hrs today, would reach Bangalore at 1030 hrs tomorrow. On its return journey, the train would leave Bangalore at 1400 hrs and reach Bhubaneshwar at 2055 hrs, the next day. UNI.....
