Surat, Feb 20 (UNI) A call received at Vadodara Railway Police control room today, saying that a bomb has been planted in the Mumbai bound Karnavati Express, turned out to be a hoax.
According to police, the call was made from the coin telephone box with number 6993245, installed near a cold drink shop in Bhattar junction, this morning. After a thorough search by the police, nothing was found.
The Police is investigating to identify the caller, sources said.
During the last few days, various institutions like courts, banks and schools have received similar unidentified hoax calls saying that bombs have been planted in the respective premises.
Hoax calls were also made for bombs being planted in the trains like Kutch Express and August Kranti Rajdhani Express, during the last few days. However, all these calls that created panic later turned to be hoax.
After the explosion in Samjhauta Express, Railway Police is taking more care in handling such calls.
Today's bomb scare in Karnavati Express comes on the heels of the detaining of the August Kranti Express bound for Nizamuddin which too had to be stopped at Surat for emergency checking two days back.
Also four days back, Gandhidham-Mumbai Express was stopped at Navsari station after an anonymous caller claimed of a bomb being planted in it, which turned out to be a hoax.
