JKDF condemns attack on Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Forum (JKDF) today strongly condemned the attack on the Delhi-Attari Samjhauta Express and expressed the hope that the India-Pakistan peace process will continue.

''Perpetrators of such inhuman and barbaric incidents should not go scot free. They should be punished for being enemies of the humanity,'' JKDF president Bushan Bazaz said.

He urged Indian and Pakistani leadership to carry on with the peace process.

''Terrorist violence should not be allowed to derail the peace process.... Perpetrators of violence should be isolated,'' he added.

Attack on the Pakistan-bound train has so far claimed 68 lives and injured several.

Twelve injured, mostly Pakistanis were brought to Safdarjung hospital.

Blasts ripped through two coaches of the train at around 0100 hrs yesterday near Panipat in Haryana.

The deceased include 26 men, 14 women and 13 children while the remaining 14 bodies were burnt beyond recognition, officials here. A 15-year-old Pakistani boy succumbed to injuries in hospital this morning.

However, only 12 of the 68 killed have been identified so far.

The victims include eight Pakistani nationals and two RPF personnel.

This was one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on the Indian Railways system and perhaps the only one in which Indian and Pakistani civilians have lost their lives.

Lalu should resign on Samjhauta tragedy: BJP

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The BJP today demanded the resignation of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on the issue of Samjhauta Express bomb blasts which left 68 persons dead and several injured. ''Rail Mantri Lalu should own moral responsibility for the tragedy,'' BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Vijay Kumar Malhotra said. He was not expecting it coming from Lalu who had not resigned while facing charges in several scams, he added. ''A train tragedy is too small.....

Indian travellers find Australian destinations attractive

Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) The Kangaroo land has become the hot spot for Indian travellers, with over 83,700 visiting Australia last year. According to international visitor arrivals data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there was a 23 per cent increase as compared to the figures of 2005. While the number of Indian arrivals to Australia was relatively small, strong growth in arrivals was experienced in 2004 and 2005. There were 5.5 million visitor arrivals to Australia during 2006. Jockey Silva Storai suspended for one year

Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) The Stewards of Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) today suspended jockey Ms Silva Storai for one year till February 29 next year for questionable riding of her mount on Friday last. The French jockey was pulled up for not permitting her mount 'Niccoletto' to run on its merit in the H Devereux Memorial Plate held on February 16. In the above race, the Stipendary Stewards reported trainer Irfan Ghatala and Jockey Silva to the stewards in this.....
