J and K Govt sanctions Rs 10.15 cr for agriculture development

Srinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned Rs 10.15 crore aid for agriculture and allied services in Pulwama district under district plan for the year 2006-07, an official said.

He said an expenditure to the tune of Rs 6.40 crore has been incurred an these services till January 2007.

This included Rs 77.35 lakh an agriculture, Rs 156 lakh an T&V, Rs 81.32 lakh for horticulture, Rs 94.21 lakh an animal husbandry and Rs 127.48 lakh an minor irrigation.

He said that 55,000 hectares of land has been brought under high yielding varieties during Khariff season and 36,900 hectares under rabi crops during the current fiscal.

On the achievements in sheep husbandry sector, he said that out of 2.60 lakh total sheep, population two lakh is cross breed variety.

Haryana signs MoUs with 7 IPPs for renewable energy

Chandigarh, Feb 20 (UNI) The Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) today signed MoUs with seven Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to generate 686 MW of power through 21 biomass and four wind energy based power projects at a total cost of Rs 3,300 crore. The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan here. Mr Hooda asked the IPPs to ensure early completion of these projects in a time.....

Youths killed in mishap

Kancheepuram, Mar 5 (UNI) Two youths were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a government bus on the GST Road here yesterday. Police here said Haridas (20) and his friend Palani (19), both from Chennai, were proceeding to Hanumanthapuram Koil from Kundrathur when the bus going to Tiruvannamalai hit them. In the impact, the duo were thrown off the vehicle. While Haridas died on the spot, Palani, who sustained serious injuries, breathed his last en route to the hospital. UNI.....
