Haryana Police releases sketches of 2 suspects

Panipat, Feb 20 (UNI) Claiming vital clues, the Haryana Police today released the sketches of two suspects who could be behind the twin blasts in the Samjhauta Express which left 68 people dead yesterday.

Addressing a press conference here, Rohtak range IGP Sharad Kumar said the two suspects were seen arguing with the RPF personnel in one of the coaches of the Samjhuata Express as it was running from Delhi towards Panipat.

They claimed they had boarded the wrong train and wanted to get off the train. The RPF personnel told them they could alight near Panipat where it slowed down, he said.

The duo got off the train when it slowed down near Panipat and the blasts occurred some 15 minutes after they alighted, the IGP said.

It was suspected the duo might have planted explosives that led to the blasts in the train, he added.

As per eyewitnesses, one of them was a slightly plump, between 35-36 years and having wheatish complexion. He was wearing pants, shirt and jacket, he said.

The other suspect, between 26-27 years, was dark and slim. He had wrapped a muffler around his face, he added.

The Haryana Police has announced an award of Rs one lakh for any person giving clues about the whereabouts of the suspects.

20 students drown, as many feared missing

Kochi, Feb 20 (UNI) Twenty students on an excursion drowned and an equal number were feared missing when the boat in which they were travelling capsized at Ovungal Kadavu in the Periyar River today. According to the District Collector, there were 50 students in the boat when the mishap occurred. Ten students were rescued by Naval swimmers.
