Haryana cabinet approves draft resolutions on Metro

Chandigarh, Feb 20 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet today approved the draft resolutions to be tabled in the State Assembly regarding the Metro Extension to Sushant Lok, Gurgaon.

These resolutions would be adopted by the Assembly in respect of Delhi Metro Rail (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002 and Metro Railway (Construction of Works) Act, 1978 to enable the Parliament to legislate for extension of these Acts to Haryana so as to provide necessary legal cover during construction and operation of Delhi Metro in Haryana.

The cabinet also decided to increase the authorised share capital of Haryana Women Development Corporation from Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore.

The decision was taken with a view to giving boost to the welfare and development activities for the women in the state and substantially increase loaning to women from poorer background.

The cabinet also decided to amend the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 in view of the consolidated proposal received from the State Election Commission to ensure purity and fairness in the conduct of municipal elections.

In view of the emergent need to introduce these amendments in the Act, it was decided to promulgate an ordinance.

Farm products to be sold at railway stations

Kushinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today announced setting up of special centres for packaging and sale of vegetables and fruit at all the railway stations. Laying the foundation of four railway projects here, Mr Yadav said, training centres for farmers and agriculturists would also be established. ''These programmes will connect the backward areas with the mainstream of development,'' he opined. Mr Yadav further said once a loss making entity, the Railways had turned around and was now surplus.....

Nine Pakistanis arrive to identify bodies of their relatives

Amritsar, Feb 20 (UNI) A group of nine people from Pakistan arrived today to identify the bodies of their relatives killed in the Samjhauta Express blasts at Panipat yesterday. They crossed into India at Wagah border, about 35 km from here, in the afternoon and left for Panipat where the bodies of the blast victims were lying for want of identification at the Civil hospital. Another group of 18 people are waiting on other side of the border at.....

Chandigarh, Feb 20 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet today passed a resolution expressing its deep shock and dismay at the 'Samjhauta Express' blasts and termed the incident ''a cowardly act of terrorism'' A two minutes silence was also observed in the cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, to pay homage to all those who lost their lives in the tragic incident. ''We severely condemn the senseless crime against innocent persons and resolve to fight and end terrorism at all.....
