GRSE pays Rs cr interim dividend

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata, today paid a cheque for more than 10 crore to the government as interim dividend for 2006-07.

The cheque was presented by GRSE CMD Rear Admiral TS Ganeshan (Retd) to Defence Minister A K Antony here.

A Category-I Miniratna', GRSE has delivered one landing ship tank (large) INS Shardul and two fast attack craft INS Battimaly and INS Baratang during the current fiscal.

The shipyard has now embarked upon ambitious expansion and modernisation plan, and has already acquired the Rajabagan Dockyard (RBD) as a first step in this direction.

The acquisition of RBD and modernisation will significantly contribute to meeting the growing needs of the country maritime security, especially the warships for the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard, a Defence Ministry release said.

CM honours Mauritian Hindi writer

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today hosted a reception in honour of eminent Hindi writer from Mauritius Abhimanyu Anat and well-known Urdu poetess from Pakistan, Fahmida Riyaz. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Dikshit said both Hindi and Urdu literature had been disseminating human values. Admiral Sureesh Mehta inaugurates 'Chatak Memorial'

Kochi, Feb 23 (UNI) Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sureesh Mehta today inaugurated the 'Chatak Memorial' at the naval base here. Addressing the gathering, Admiral Mehta lauded the efforts of the Southern Naval Command to institute a memorial for the warship 'INS Chatak'. Day at Sea for Coast Guard in Porbandar tommorrow

Porbandar, Feb 25 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard will display its prowess at seas tomorrow at a ceremonial programme along the Porbandar coast. Gujarat Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma will fly down to witness the 'Day at Sea' exercises that will essentially comprise of the varied tasks that the Coast Guard performs at sea like anti-poaching and rescue operations. The 'Day at Sea' which is usually held on February 1 every year to celebrate the Coast Guard Day was delayed.....
