GCCI Open House on income-tax tomorrow in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Feb 20 (UNI) Gujarat Chamber of Commerce&Industry (GCCI) has organised an Open House on Income-Tax at the chamber premises at 1600 hrs tomorrow.

Mr Raj Kishore, Chief Commissioner of Income-tax I, Mr R C Prakash, Chief Commissioner of IT-II and Ms J D Sahay, Director General of IT (investigation), would address the members and deal with the grievances of tax payers, says a GCCI release.

The chamber is organising the session jointly with All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants, Ahmedabad branch of WIRC of ICAI, IT Bar Association and Chartered Accountants Association.

1 arrested for possessing revolver illegally

Jamnagar, Gujarat, Feb 20 (UNI) The local crime branch team has arrested one person and seized a .45 mm revolver and six live cartridges from his farm house at Kothavisotri village of Khambhalia taluka, about 70 kms from here. Led by inspector R J Barot and acting on specific information, the crime branch sleuths raided the farm house of Raghu Meghji Rathod and seized the weapon late last evening. Diamond merchant's son dead in road accident

Surat, Feb 20 (UNI) A 24-year youth, son of a diamond merchant, was killed when a truck hit his bike on a flyover on the busy Ring Road near Sahara Dharwaja in the city today. According to Mahidharpura police the deceased, Rushin Shah (24) son of Ashwin Shah, a diamond merchant in the city, was going to his office in Varachcha. When his bike reached near Sahara Dharwaja on the Ring Road a truck hit the vehicle and Rushin died.....

371 get jobs in 'Mega Job Fair-2007'

Ahmedabad, Feb 20 (UNI) The 'Mega Job Fair - 2007', organised by District Employment Exchange office here today, helped secure jobs for 371 candidates at different places. As many as 36 employers including industrial units, marketing agencies, BPOs, call centres participated in the fair. Of the 6,737 candidates called for interviews for 1,564 vacancies, 371 were selected, a release said. Six MSRTC employees booked for theft of diesel

Nagpur, Feb 21 (UNI) Six employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) here have been booked for stealing 4,284 litres of diesel worth Rs 1.61 lakh by making short deliveries of fuel to the corporation's buses. According to police, the six employees, while working in the depot of MSRTC's city bus service here, tampered with the fuel pump to ensure that it delivered 25 millilitre less diesel for every 5 litres when the vehicles were refuelled.
