Forest official in vigilance net in J and K

Srinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) today produced challan against a forest official Tariq Abdullah Bhat in the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Srinagar under prevention of a corruption act.

The accused, the then Forester, Forest Range Mawar, Langate, District Kupwara was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 700.

Divulging details about the case he said on July 6, 2005, one Mohammad Amin Shajoo lodged a written complaint with Police Station Vigilance Organisation Kashmir alleging that a forester in Mawar range was demanding Rs 700 as illegal gratification for issuing permit for transporting popular wood from Kargam Handwara to Srinagar.

He said the VO laid a trap and arrested the forest official red- handed.

He said after completing the investigation and accord of sanction for prosecution by the government, the challan of the case was presented in the court of law.

Decision on CBI inquiry to be taken in a day or two: Jaiswal

NDFB yet to place demand

Guwahati, Mar 05 (UNI) The Government today informed the Asom Assembly that they were waiting for the charter of demand from the Bodo militant outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
