Farm products to be sold at railway stations

Kushinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today announced setting up of special centres for packaging and sale of vegetables and fruit at all the railway stations.

Laying the foundation of four railway projects here, Mr Yadav said, training centres for farmers and agriculturists would also be established.

''These programmes will connect the backward areas with the mainstream of development,'' he opined.

Mr Yadav further said once a loss making entity, the Railways had turned around and was now surplus with funds.

''My target is to increase the Railways' profit from Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 20,000 crore.'' The Railway minister asserted he was particular about the development in UP and that is why a new rail coach factory was being set up in Rae Bareli district.

On the possibility of president's rule in UP, Mr Yadav claimed when the state government was already unconstitutional, where does the question to dismiss it arise. ''It (UP government) will fall on its own.'' UNI

13 students drown in boat capsize

Kochi, Feb 20 (UNI) Thirteen students of an excursion party drowned as their boat capsized at Ovungal Kadavu in the Periyar river today. Police sources said there were 45 students in the boat when it capsized. Ten students were rescued by the Naval swimmers and rescue operations were in full swing for the other missing students. One hundred and one students and 10 teachers from St Antony's School, Elvoor, Angamali, had left in three boats to the Thattekkadu bird sanctuary and.....

Army jawan killed in militant attack at Doda

Jammu, Feb 20 (UNI) An Army jawan was today killed in a militant attack during a search in Mughal maidan forest in Kishtwar region of Doda district, sources said. Some unknown militants lobbed a hand grenade at an army patrol of 11 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) near Mughal maidan forest during an operation, the sources said. The sources further said one jawan Lance Naik Rajesh Kumar Singh died on the spot while two others indentified as Amar Singh and Roshan Lal sustained.....
