CRPF to set up first Disaster Management Training Institute in Mah

Nagpur, Feb 19 (UNI) Central Reserve Police Force (Western Region) Inspector General of Police Atul Kumar Mathur today said CRPF was coming up with the country's first Disaster Management Training Institute at Latur in Maharashtra.

Speaking to media during his visit to the city to attend the passing out parade of CRPF Camp here, Mr Mathur said the Disaster Management Training Institute would be ready within two years. The institute would come up on 200 acre land and the expertise would be developed and training impared to face challenges of nuclear-biological-chemical (NBC) attacks and other disasters, he said.

Mr Mathur said the CRPF had raised two battalions exclusively to deal with the NBC threats. Assistance from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre experts was being sought to impart training to these two battalions, he informed.

Mr Mathur lamented that Maharashtra was not taking assistance from the CRPF in dealing with the Maoists in Vidarbha region.

At the passing out parade held at CPRF Camp here a total of 904 CRPF recruits passed out. Shweta Sharma, Assistant Commandant and others led the passing out parade.

M P Assly pays tributes to Shukla

Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly today paid glowing tributes to former Chief Minister Shyama Charan Shukla and others and adjourned its sitting till tomorrow as a mark of respect to the departed leaders. The house also observed two minutes silence to mourn their death. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Mr Shukla, who died at Raipur a week ago, symbolised clean and value based politics. MP bypolls: Seven nominees' papers rejected

Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) Seven candidates' nomination papers were rejected today during scrutiny ahead of the March 8 bypolls to two parliamentary constituencies and an assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh, official sources said. At Sidhi (ST), the Bahujan Samaj Party's dummy nominee Baban Singh's papers were rejected along with those of Mr Ramlal (Communist Party of India Marxist-Maley). In Gwalior, the papers of BSP candidates Lakhan Singh and Jawahar Singh were turned down. A decision will be taken early tomorrow regarding.....

Saddam paid tributes in MP Assembly

Bhopal, Feb 20 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) today paid glowing tributes to deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussain in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
