Bombings an attempt to disrupt peace between India, Pak : Germany

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Germany, which currently holds the Presidency of the European Union, has condemned the ''murderous attacks'' on the Samjhauta Express, linking India and Pakistan, saying the act was clearly intended to disrupt the peace process between the two countries.

''The Presidency of the European Union condemns in the strongest possible terms the murderous attack on the 'Friendship Express' between India and Pakistan which killed and injured so many people in northern India,'' a German Embassy release here said.

''The EU also offers its sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes those injured a swift and complete recovery,'' it added.

The ''mindless act of violence'', close on the heels of Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri's visit to India, was clearly intended to disrupt the process of rapprochement between the two neighbours.

It called upon all parties in India and Pakistan to oppose further acts of violence and to ''resolvedly continue down the path of dialogue chosen''.

Those responsible must be swiftly identified and brought to justice, the statement added.
