AYUSH university to be started in Belgaum

Belgaum, Karnataka, Feb 20 (UNI) The city of Belgaum will soon have an AYUSH University and the Karnataka Government has directed the district administration to identify site for the same.

District Commissioner Shalini Rajanish, in a meeting of revenue officials today, asked them to identify around 400 acres of land for the proposed university in the vicinity of the city.

The varsity would be the second in the country and first in South India. The proposed university would conduct courses and encourage research in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy branches of medicine.

Indian travellers find Australian destinations attractive

Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) The Kangaroo land has become the hot spot for Indian travellers, with over 83,700 visiting Australia last year. According to international visitor arrivals data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there was a 23 per cent increase as compared to the figures of 2005. While the number of Indian arrivals to Australia was relatively small, strong growth in arrivals was experienced in 2004 and 2005. There were 5.5 million visitor arrivals to Australia during 2006. Soz reviews AIBP schemes in suicide-prone districts

New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today reviewed the status of 65 irrigation projects under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme in 31 identified farmers suicide-prone districts and appealed to the states to speed up work to overcome the problems faced by the farmers.
