Army jawan killed in militant attack at Doda

Jammu, Feb 20 (UNI) An Army jawan was today killed in a militant attack during a search in Mughal maidan forest in Kishtwar region of Doda district, sources said.

Some unknown militants lobbed a hand grenade at an army patrol of 11 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) near Mughal maidan forest during an operation, the sources said.

The sources further said one jawan Lance Naik Rajesh Kumar Singh died on the spot while two others indentified as Amar Singh and Roshan Lal sustained seriou, injuries.

In another incident, militants kidnapped a middle-aged person namely Mohammad Ramzan hailing from Shalla Koti under Doda police station on February 17. His body was recovered by police this morning from a nullah.

Haryana Police releases sketches of 2 suspects

Panipat, Feb 20 (UNI) Claiming vital clues, the Haryana Police today released the sketches of two suspects who could be behind the twin blasts in the Samjhauta Express which left 68 people dead yesterday. Addressing a press conference here, Rohtak range IGP Sharad Kumar said the two suspects were seen arguing with the RPF personnel in one of the coaches of the Samjhuata Express as it was running from Delhi towards Panipat. They claimed they had boarded the wrong train.....

More discussions needed on budget: Speaker

Hyderabad, Feb 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today called for more discussions on the budget by the members of the House as it was an important matter for the government and the people. Inaugurating the one-day workshop on 'Budget Reporting', organised by the Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh here , he said budget was a sacred document of the government which needed more time for the discussion. He said the media must play a prominent role.....

Cong members block proceedings in K'taka Assembly

Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) In an unprecedented move, the Opposition Congress members today blocked proceedings in the Karnataka Assembly by virtually preventing the presiding officer from functioning, demanding immediate election to the Chairman's post in the Legislative Council. As soon as the House re-assembled for the second time after lunch, Mr Araga Gnanendra, a panel member, entered the House to conduct the proceedings.
