Additional stoppage for "Garib Rath"

Chennai, Feb 20 (UNI) An additional halt has been provided at Ongole for one minute for Chennai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin-Chennai Central, Garib Rath weekly super fast train to be flaged off tomorrow.

A press release from Southern Railway here said tonight, following the representation made by passengers of in and around the Ongole, the facillity has been provided.

Meanwhile, the Southern Railway will run a special train on Chennai Central-Chappra section on February 22 to clear extra rush of passengers.

The train will leave here at 1730 hours on February 22 and reach Chappra at 1200 hours on February 24.

Hyderabad, Feb, 20 (UNI) Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Raymond Peter today inaugurated the five-day Kashmir food and cultural festival in the city. The festival would bring forth Kashmiri Cuisine(Wazwan) prepared by expert Chefs, who had been flown in from Srinagar and organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation(JKTDC). K'taka Govt releases Rs 164 cr for Suvarna Gramodaya scheme

Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has released Rs 164.70 crore for the ambitious Suvarna Gramodaya Scheme, under which over 1,000 villages in 26 districts would be comprehensively developed, Karnataka Panchayati Raj Minister C M Udasi said today. Addressing newspersons here, he said the scheme, with a special focus on empowering people living in rural areas, would be formally launched by President A P J Abdul Kalam at Srinivasa Saradagi, a remote village at Chitapur taluk in Gulbarga district on.....

Over 1,300 farmers end lives in K'taka in three years

Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) As many as 1,301 farmers have committed suicide in Karnataka during the last three years due to various reasons like debt burden, crop loss and family problems, State Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur informed the Legislative Council today. Replying to questions raised by BJP's Aravinda Limbavalli and Vimala Gowda, he said that of the 1,301 farmer suicides, the families of 475 ryots have been given a cash compensation of Rs one lakh each, 47 cases were under investigation.....

Mangalore water situation likely to be normal by Sunday

Mangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) The 'water crisis' being faced by the city is expected to be eased by Sunday, with the reinstallation of repaired pumps in the Thumbe reservior pumping station being completed this noon. Talking to newspersons at Thumbe, city Mayor Vijaya Arun said the three pumps, damaged due to a non-reversible valve burst following submerging of the 750 HP pipes in Netravathi river water on Tuesday last, were repaired in Mysore and reinstalled. Pumping of water had begun.....
