Mumbai, Feb 18: Saying that he was not worthy of occupying thePresident's post, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has clarifiedthat he had not received any offer or proposal for contesting thePresidential polls this year.
''I am not worthy of such a distinguished post ofresponsibility,'' Amitabh told reporters last night during the musicrelease function of his next film 'Nishabd', directed by RamgopalVarma.
He was responding to reports that Samajwadi Party generalsecretary Amar Singh has mooted his name as a potential Presidentialcandidate and Telugu Desam party president Chandrababu Naidu hadendorsed the same.
Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's term as President of India ends in July this year.
Bachchan was elected to the Sabha member from Allahabadconstituency on a Congress ticket in 1984 and resigned three yearslater following allegations of his involvement in the Bofors scandal.
