Answer scripts on Website from 2007: CET Cell

Bangalore, Feb 15: Common Entrance Test CET Cell today announced that from this year the answer sheet of every student who  appear for the entrance test will be published on the website (http://kar.nic.in/net).

After launching the brochure-cum-application form for CET-2007, Higher Education Minister H D Shankaramurthy said that the candidates can download the Optical Marks Reader (OMR) answer sheet by entering the CET admission ticket number. "The initiative is to ensure transperancy in the examination process and eliminate complaints that OMR answer sheet can be tampered with at any later stage", he added.

The  CET cell has decided from this year onwards to make left thumb impresion on application forms as well as OMR sheets mandatory for candidates.

Mr Shankaramurthy said that with four polytechnics being upgraded to government engineering colleges,  the number of government quota seats will increase by 1,500.

Four polytechnics in Bhadravati, Chikmagalur, Kushalnagar and Hassan will be upgraded to engineering colleges, while a new government engineering college will come up in Ramanagaram. Each of the colleges will have an intake of 300 seats and will be filled up by the CET Cell.

With the government arriving at the seat-sharing formula and fee structure with private managements before the entrance test, college-wise break-up of seats available to be filled up by the CET Cell figures in the brochure. The brochure gives the detailed admission round and casual vacancy round schedule.

"The CET results will be published within 15 days from the date of the test in all the test centres and also on the CET website", said V S Acharya, the Medical Education Minister .

If any candidate fails to receive the admission ticket, the same can be downloaded by entering the application number on the CET website.

The seat selection process will commence from May 30 and will conclude by July-end. Classes will commence from August 1.

Students who want to opt for the architecture seat should appear for NATA test conducted by the Council of Architecture. Such candidates will have to contact the engineering colleges where architecture courses are available. No separate aptitude test will be conducted by the CET Cell.

Mr Shankaramurthy said "he was still hopeful he would be able to convince the private managements for a single CET for filling up management and government".
