Sonia says Manipur's territorial integrity will be protected

Imphal, Feb 12 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi today reiterated that the party would protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and reconsider withdrawing the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958, from other parts of the state.

Addressing two mammoth public meetings at Khoupum, Tamenglong district and Churachandpur town where elections would be held in the third phase on February 23, she said AFSPA was withdrawn by the Congress government earlier from seven assembly segments.

She also reaffirmed her party's commitment to the welfare of the people, especially the youth and the women.

Senior Congress leaders, Manipur party President Gaikhangam also accompanied the Congress Chief. She had also held election campaigns at Thoubal and Imphal West earlier this month.
