New Delhi, Feb 6: An international film festival which, for a change, seeks to showcase cinematic works by students of filmmaking in India as well as across the world, began in the Capital today.
The two-day festival, First Ironic 2007, which is being held at the Shri Satya Sai International centre in the capital, opened this morning with the screening of a 24-minute English language film 'Once Upon A Time', directed by Pawanpreet Kaur.
On show at the two-day film festival, organised by Madhubala Institute of Communication and Electronic Media (MBICEM), will be nearly 30 cinematic works by students from all over India as well as Germany, Sri Lanka and Canada, all of which have earlier been screened at prestigious film festivals like the Mumbai International Film Festival, Berlin Asia Pacific Film Festival, Asian Film Festival (Singapore), Indian Social Forum 3-Screen Festival and the first Wordless International Short Film Festival.
The films screened at the film festival have been divided into three categories namely, Documentary, Fiction, and Short Films.
The participating films will be adjudged for awards for Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Film and a special award to be presented by UNI
