Addressing the party's General Council, the highest policy and decision-making body here, she said, 'I can assure you that the DMK government will fall by the end of this year and the AIADMK will stage a comeback to take care of the people.' In her hour-long address, she said after the AIADMK comes back to power, her first signature would be to nullify the elections held to local bodies in October last and order fresh polls.
Describing the civic polls as a farce, Ms Jayalalithaa said to uphold democracy, she would order fresh elections after becoming Chief Minister. 'I will always take a measured step and whatever I do, I wil do it for the benefit of the people and the state.' Alleging that the DMK government was committing 'blunders after blunders' ever since it assumed office in May last, she charged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi with betraying the state on Cauvery water, Mullaiperiyar Dam and Palar Dam issues.
She said the state was heading for bankruptcy because of financial mismanagement and the freebies announced by the DMK government.
