He claimed Mr Modi said the godowns were full of food grains under the rule of NDA Government at the Centre but what had gone wrong during the Congress-led UPA Government's regime in the last three years that the stocks were exhausted and the government had to import wheat on higher rates. br /br / He said that farmers were forced to commit suicide in various Congress-uled states, including Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra in the wake of bad crop production leading to their deteriorating economy.br /br / Mr Modi said that this was the failure of the Congress led government, otherwise the scenario in BJP ruled Gujarat was totally different.br /br / ''While farmers of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab were forced to commit suicide, farmers in Gujarat were growing richer year by year, '' he noted, adding that the commitment and will power to deliver good to people in the BJP-led Gujarat government had made the difference.br /br / ''When I had taken over as Chief Minister five years ago, the scenario was different but transformation had begun under the BJP regime with implementation of a number of reforms including water management, rain water harvesting and all efforts resulted in many fold increase in farmers income.br /br / He asserted that agriculture income in the state which was Rs 9, 000 crore per annum five years ago had now reached up to Rs 34, 000 crore per annum.br /br / While farmers of other states were in trouble in the wake of their bad BT cotton crop the same crop was bringing good fortune to farmers of his state and purchasers from China were eagar to purchase BT cotton of Gujarat.br /br / He said it is not only the issue of agriculture but BJP government in Gujarat had made strides in every sphere. He added that while most of the states of the country including Punjab are facing acute power crisis, his government's Jyotigram scheme had totally changed the scenario in Gujarat where 24 hour uninterrupted power supply in every village and town is the order of the day.br /br / Mr Modi said that in the implementation of 20 point programme and other poor welfare schemes his state had been maintaining number one position in the country for past four years and none of the Congress ruled state had figured even in one to fifth place in this list. br /br / Mr Modi also charged Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh with failure in raising Punjab's voice at the Centre and seeking the state's due from the Centre. Nepal: One killed, 23 injured in Eastern Terai

Kathmandu, Feb 5: One person was killed and 23 others injured in a clash between the agitating activists of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) and the police in Sarlahi and Birjung today afternoon.

Police resorted to firing after the protesters staged demonstration defying the curfew. At least 12 protesters and six police personnel were injured in the clash, Kantipur radio said.

Police officials claimed that demonstrators opened fire at the police, injuring six people. The crowd also vandalized.....

Two shot dead, vehicle carrying 70 students pushed down

Imphal, Feb 4 (UNI) Imphal police today recovered bodies of two people, reportedly shot dead by some unidentified miscreants, from two different places in Manipur.

One of the bodies was found at Senapati district while the other was recovered from here, police said.

Police further said both the deceased sustained bullet marks.

However, the reason behind the murder had not been ascertained.

Meanwhile, police said a few NSCN(K) militants pushed a bus, in which 70 Manipuri students were travelling,.....

4 criminals arrested, arms recovered

Banka, Feb 4 (UNI) Police today arrested four criminals, wanted in connection with several cases of dacoity, at Chathar village under Shambhuganj police station here.

Four country-made pistols and several live cartridges were also recovered from the spot during the search operation.

Police said the raid was conducted following a tip off, leading to arrest of the criminals, who were the students of a college here.
