Jalandhar, Jan 31: Against the wishes of Opposition Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)'s demand for a CBI inquiry into the incident of clash between SAD and Congress workers in Beas two days ago, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said a special investigation team (SIT) has already been entrusted the investigation and guilty would be dealt with appropriately.
Mr Singh said the government would ensure appropriate action against the guilty.
He said at such incidents would not be allowed to re-occur in the state during the election campaign and the government would take all effective measures to conduct free and fair elections in peaceful manner.
Over another incident of a verbal duel between Amritsar Lok Sabha by poll contestants Surinder Singla and Navjot Singh Sidhu in Amritsar, the Chief Minister said the later was responsible for the ugly situation as he could not reply to Singla's provocative argument in a logical manner.
