Beas clash investigation entrusted to SIT: CM

Jalandhar, Jan 31: Against the wishes of Opposition Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)'s demand for a CBI inquiry into the incident of clash between SAD and Congress workers in Beas two days ago, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said a special investigation team (SIT) has already been entrusted the investigation and guilty would be dealt with appropriately.

Mr Singh said the government would ensure appropriate action against the guilty.

He said at such incidents would not be allowed to re-occur in the state during the election campaign and the government would take all effective measures to conduct free and fair elections in peaceful manner.

Over another incident of a verbal duel between Amritsar Lok Sabha by poll contestants Surinder Singla and Navjot Singh Sidhu in Amritsar, the Chief Minister said the later was responsible for the ugly situation as he could not reply to Singla's provocative argument in a logical manner.

Benchmark AMC launches Gold Exchange Traded Fund

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) Benchmark Asset Management Company (AMC) Private Ltd today announced the launch of its much awaited Gold ETF mutual fund scheme called Gold BeES.

Benchmar AMC Executive Director Mr Rajan Mehta told reporters,'' Gold BeES is an Open-Ended Exchange listed Scheme tracking domestic prices of gold through investment in physical gold. The New fund offer (NFO) commences on February 15 and closes on February 23, 2007.

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) The Board of Directors of Arrow Coated Products Limited at a recently held meeting has approved to issue 11,99,623 Preferential Warrants to Promoters and others at Rs 50 per share.

Gupta Synthetics' net profit up by 33 per cent in Q3

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) Gupta Synthetics Limited, a leading player in the synthetic yarn industry, has seen its net profit for the quarter ended December 31, climb 33 per cent year on year to Rs 4.26 crore from Rs 3.2 crore last year.

PC sales to cross 6.5 mln units in 2006-07

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Personal Computer sales are poised to cross 6.5 million units in fiscal 2007, with the numbers already exceeding 2.96 million units during the first sixth months between April-September 2006, registering a growth of 19 per cent over the corresponding period.

During the second quarter ending September '06, total PC sales with desktop computers and notebooks taken together were 1.75 million units, rising by 46 per cent over the previous quarter and 19 per cent year-on-year.
