EC team to visit Uttarakhand to look into poll preparedness

Dehradun, Jan 19 (UNI) Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami will visit Uttarakhand on January 21 to look into the election preparation in the state Election Commissioners Navin B Chawla and Dr S Y Qureshi will also be visiting the state alongwith Mr Gopalaswami, an official release quoting Uttarakhand Chief Election Officer N Ravishankar, said today.

Mr Ravishankar said the team will hold meetings with representatives of registered political parties on January 22 and discuss the preparation of election in the state, to be held on February 21, with district magistrates, mandal commissioners, state police chief and other senior police officers in a separate review meeting.

The team will hold a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Director General of Police on January 23, the release added.

Surat, Oct 30: In a bid to hold free and fair assembly elections in Gujarat, the Chief Election Commissioner (EC) N Gopalaswamy today arrived here to supervise the poll preparations by the district administration. The CEC is on a three-day visit of Central and South Gujarat. While talking to the mediapersons here, Mr Gopalaswamy said the election card is strictly necessary in the forthcoming elections.None will be allowed to vote without the election photo identity card.
