Imphal, Jan 18 (UNI) Chief Electoral Officer R R Rashmi said the EC has decided to allow filing of nominations at Imphal's West DC office for Senapati and Ukhrul districts.

The elections in these two hill districts would be held in the first phase on February eight.

The decision was taken after a few political parties requested the EC to allow filing of nominations at Imphal and to ensure free and fair elections to the Assembly constituencies in these districts, he added.

Two additional Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) under Section 22 (1) of the Representation of People Act, 1951 were appointed and stationed at the office of the RO at Imphal West, he said.

Mr Rashmi further said this arrangement is made only for the purpose of receiving the nomination papers and shall be additional to the arrangement already notified by the ROs of the two districts.

The EC had also proposed a list of identity cards for the voters, Mr Rashmi added.

The CEO further said the polls would be monitored through cameras.
