Singla to head Punjab Congress Manifesto Committee

Chandigarh, Jan 8 (UNI) Punjab Finance Minister Surinder Singla will head the 15-member Punjab Congress party Manifesto Committee, that will prepare the party manifesto for the February 13 assembly polls.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi has granted approval for the Committee, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Rajpal Singh stated here today.

The other members of the Committee include Mrs Preneet Kaur MP from Patiala, former minister Lakhmir Singh Randhawa, current ministers Avtar Henry and Sardool Singh, state assembly Deputy Speaker Prof Darbari Lal, Mr Dharam Pal Sabharwal Rajya Sabha member, Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lalli Majithia, President, District Congress Committee, Amritsar (rural), Ajit Singh Kular, Avtar Singh Brar, Jasbir Singh Sangrur, Upender Sharma, Subhash Mahajan, Mrs Satinder Kaur Gujral and Tarlochan Singh.

The first meeting of this Committee will be held here of February 11.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
