CPM (Pasla) identifies 9 seats for Punjab polls

Jalandhar, Jan 6 (UNI) The Communist Party Marxist Punjab (Pasla) has identified nine assembly seats to field its candidates in the February 13 elections in Punjab.

The party state committee which met here today under the chairmanship of Surjit Gill has decided to put up nominees in Beas, Patti, Narot Mehta, Nurmahal, Nakodar, Banga, Shutrana, Sunam and Abohar seats, party state secretary Mangat Ram Pasla said.

Mr Pasla said efforts were on to form a left front to unitedly take on ruling Congress and Akali Dal-BJP combine.

He said this front comprising CPM-Punjab (Pasla), CPI(ML) Liberation, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and All India Forward Bloc, is expected to be floated shortly.

This left front would not have any truck, directly or indirectly, with any of communal or pro-imperialistic political formations, Mr Pasla reiterated.

I'm a Marxist, I am more red than Chinese: Dalai Lama

Melbourne, June 14 : The spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama, believes that he is an honest friend of China and describes himself as pro-Chinese. "Actually as far as social economy goes, I'm a Marxist. I am more red than the Chinese leaders, who seem to be only concerned with money. In Marxist theory there is a concern with the equal distribution of wealth. So this has a moral principle which capitalist theory doesn't," he said. "I don't agree.....
