Tribal complex planned in Kochi

Palakkad, Jan 4 (UNI) Kerala SC/ST Welfare Minister A K Balan today said a tribal complex would be built at Kochi at a cost of Rs five crore to provide accommodation to tribals visiting the State from other parts of the country.

Talking to reporters here, he said all tribal settlements in the state would be provided with electricity in two years and land to landless tribals within five years.

Mr Balan said the SC/ST department would organise a trade fair here from January 6 to 13 showcasing the cottage industries of the tribals and their traditional medicines. Such a fair would be held in Kochi also.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
