Sharath Kamal jumps nine places to 104th in world rankings

New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) India's top paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal, who finished a creditable fifth in the Killerspin Invitational Tournament in Chicago last week, jumped nine places to occupy 104th place in the latest world rankings.

The 24-year-old Sharath, who spearheaded the Indian challenge in the Doha Asian Games, finished joint fifth in the Chicago event with former world champion Jorgen Persson of Sweden even though he lost to eventual winner and world number 15 Kalinikos Kreanga of Greece in the opening round of the eight-player field.

His Doha Asiad compatriots Soumyadeep Roy and Subhajit Saha also moved up six and five places to 230 and 323 respectively in the list headed by Wang Liqin of China.

Among women, Poulomi Ghatak lost six places to 227 but still remains the highest-ranked Indian while Mouma Das slipped 12 places to 238, according to information received here today.

India remains fastest growing economies in the world, says Kamal Nath
