RBI to launch Rs 2 coins of ferritic stainless steel

New Delhi, Jan 4: The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new ferritic stainless steel Rs 2 coins with the theme 'unity in diversity'.

The coins are circular in shape with 27 millimeters diameter with a composition of 17 per cent chromium and 83 per cent iron.

The face of the coin has three portions.

The coin is a legal tender as provided in the Coinage Act, 1906.

The existing two rupee coins shall also continue to be legal tender.

Kobe in talks with Indian firm on steel plant tech

Tokyo, May 23: Kobe Steel Ltd, Japan's fourth-biggest steel maker, said on Wednesday it is in talks with India's Chowgule Group over the use of its steel-making technology. A Kobe spokesman said the two parties could agree on building a 500,000 tonnes-a-year steel plant using the technology in India, but it was also possible that Kobe would only license the know-how, called the ITmk3 process, that enables the production of high-grade steel from low-priced iron.....

SAIL mine receives QMS certificate

Ranchi, May 19: The Steel Authority of India Limited mine at Kiribiru has been awarded with ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management System (QMS) certificate, a company release said today. According to the release, the certificate awarded by the Bureau of Indian Standard was received by company's executive director M.S. Rai, in-charge of raw and material division, at Kiribiru. One of the Kiriburu mines had already received environment related ISO 14001 certification......
