Mixed trend seen in Sugar prices

Mumbai, Jan 4 (UNI) Mixed trend was seen in Sugar prices, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said today.

Prices of sugar in small grade hiked by Rs six per quintal on better buying support, while medium grade remained steady.

Ex-mill small grade remained steady, while medium grade declined by Rs 13 per quintal on lack of fresh demand.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,548/1,585, Medium grade: Rs 1,580/1,670 Ex-mill: Small grade: Rs 1,520/1,545 Medium grade: Rs 1,547/1,595 UNI

Chandigarh, Oct 30: The Punjab Cabinet today gave a green signal to impose four per cent entry tax on sugar imported from outside the state. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here. The move is aimed at safeguarding the interest of local sugar industries. London, Feb 11: Researchers have found that sugar could actually be healthier than low-calorie sweeteners. They felt that a sweet taste could prompt the body to prepare for a large intake of calories. Diabetics can control blood sugar by consuming low glycemic index diet
