Mark Pi opens 3 'Crazy Noodles' restaurants

Ahmedabad, Jan 4: US restaurant group ''Mark Pi International'' announced the launch of three restaurants in Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Surat.

The restaurants called ''Mark Pi's Crazy Noodles'' are 100 per cent vegetarian and offer fun filled experience from rocking glasses to giant sized noodle bowls to singing waiters, said Mark Pi CEO Karana Varma yesterday.

The international restaurant chain was founded by Mark Pi, who had set a Guinness World Record as the fastest human noodle maker when he stretched out 4,096 strings of Chinese noodles by hand in 41.34 seconds, Mr Varma told reporters.

''We plan to set up 10 such restaurants in Gujarat and Ahmedabad could see three more,'' Mr Verma said adding that a restaurant would be opened in Vadodara soon. There is a plan to set up one in Gandhidham (in Kutch), he said.

Pointing out the speciality of the Mark Pi restaurants, Mr Verma said all orders are freshly made and the customers can watch chefs cooking each dish individually. ''All items are cooked when orders are placed and we don't hold food,'' he said.

''Mark Pi soups are priced at Rs 50 per bowl, which is sufficient for two people. It is the largest bowl in the city. Half-a-kg of noodles costs Rs 80. We are not simply supplying noodles. We provide wholesome meals and entertainment,'' Mr Verma said.

There is going to be a Jain menu too without garlic soon.

When asked who the cooks are, Mr Verma said all of them are local people specially trained by experts in cooking process. ''We treat cooking as a process and not as an art,'' Mr Verma added.

As for the future plans, the chain would be covering all the metros and mini metros by investing over Rs 80 crores in next five years. Mark Pi International has ambitious plans of opening over 400 outlets in the Asia Pacific region within a span of five years, he said.
