JD(S) Ministers, MLAs to review performance in Pune

Bangalore, Jan 4 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, along with party Ministers and Legislators, will leave here tomorrow for Pune on a three-day visit to review the implementation of various programmes, initiated by the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government in the State.

According to official sources, the Chief Minister would review the performances of the JD(S) Ministers and hold one-to-one meetings with party Legislators on the status of implementation of various programmes initiated by his Government.

The Legislators and Ministers would stay at a resort near Pune.

The meeting assumed political significance in the wake of the defeat of the party candidate in the Chamundeshwari Assembly bypoll at the hands of his bete noire and former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of the Congress last month. The Chief Minister was also expected to discuss the pros and cons of continuing the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party and seek the party leaders' opinion.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
