'Indo-US N-Deal not to impinge on domestic R

Chidambaram (Tamil Nadu), Jan 4: Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar today categorically stated that there was no question of Indo-US nuclear deal impinging on domestic Research and Development.

''It is a concern that the nuclear deal will impinge on the domestic research and development, but we must maintain its autonomy at all cost,'' Dr Kakodkar told reporters after his presentation at the 94th Indian Science Congress here.

He said the deal was not through yet, the 123 agreement has to be signed and India should negotiate such that the domestic research and development continues.

''We need to sustain the tempo of domestic R and D without any external safeguard hindrances.

Brown Govt. slammed over US using Brit atomic weapons factory for its nuke program

London, Feb.9 (ANI): The Gordon Brown Government has placed itself in hot waters after the British Defence MInistry revealed that the United States military has been using an atomic weapons factory in Britain to carry out research into its own nuclear warhead programme.The Guardian quoted US defense officials as saying that "very valuable" warhead research has taken place at the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire as part of an ongoing and secretive deal between the British and American.....
