Governor' CM greet people on Gurpurab

Jammu, Jan 4 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Lt. Gen (retd) S K Sinha and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad have extended their heartiest greetings to the people on the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, the founder of the khalsa panth.

In a message, the governor said Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a great visionary and an apostle of truth and universal brotherhood.

He was a fearless revolutionary who dedicated his life for the upliftment of people.

''The teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji inspired his followers to fight against social injustices and brought about a culture and spiritual renaissance in the region,'' he added.

General Sinha expressed hope that the birthday of Guru Ji Gobind Singh would be celebrated in a befitting manner with traditional sobriety and devotion. He also prayed for peace and tranquility in the state.

In a message, the Chief Minister said Guru Gobind Singh stood for truth, secularism and universal brotherhood. Guruji s message of 'manas ki zaat sabbay eikay pehchaan bhav', meaning all humans are akin and being true human beings is their recognition, is a shining example of mutual brotherhood, he said.

Mr Azad also prayed for peace and prosperity of the state on the occasion.

Armed forces unhappy, demand restoration of Lt. Generals status
