Electrostatic precipitator commissioned at Malabar Cements

Palakkad, Jan 4 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today inaugurated the Electrostatic Precipitator to control air pollution from the state-owned Malabar Cements Ltd at Valayar.

The new system installed at a cost of Rs 5.5 crore as per state Pollution Control Board guidelines would bring down air pollution to 50 milligram from the present 150 milligram per cubic metre.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kareem said Principal Secretary to the Industries Department would inquire into the preliminary report of the Comptroller and Auditor-General about loss suffered by the company due to mismanagement and action would be taken against those responsible for it after getting the report.

He said the government's policy was to revive sick public sector units and three sick units had already started working. The government would also appoint professionals as Chief Executives of PSUs.

Electricity Minister A K Balan gave away orders regularising the service of 15 casual labourers of the factory.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
