CII former director-general bags award from Italy

New Delhi, Jan 4 (UNI) Former director-general of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) N Srinivasan has been bestowed with an award by the Italian Republic for fostering Indo-Italian friendship and cooperation.

With this award, Mr Srinivasan became Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic was instituted to reward those who have earned special recognition of Italy.

The President of Italy bestows the honours on the recommendation of the Prime Minister of Italy. A 16-member high-level commission / jury especially constituted for the award, advises the Prime Minister and President of Italy on the awardees.

Mr Srinivasan was the director-general of CII from June 2004 to May 2006. He is currently an Advisor to the CII President.

He is involved with CII's Integrity Campaign, spearheaded by Mr N R Narayanamurthy, Chief Mentor, Infosys.

UN extends dues for 3 years with no changes
