Centre gives Rs 87 crore to J

Srinagar, Jan 4 (UNI) The Centre has released Rs 87 crore as second installment under the Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) to Jammu and Kashmir during 2006-07, an official spokesman said today.

The amount has been released for execution and completion of schemes to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural habitations and schools as part of the centrally-sponsored ARWSP.

The fund was also for tackling water quality affected habitations including areas coming under the Desert Development Programme (DDP) under ARWSP during the current financial year, he added.

RComm goes rural, to cover 2 lakh villages

New Delhi, May 17: In a bid to cover 2,34,000 villages, Reliance Communications (RComm) today said it has commenced the rollout of its rural infrastructure project for setting up 8,982 Base Terminal Stations (BTSs) in the remote areas of the country. The company aims to launch its telecom services within two months, after provisioning of passive infrastructure in these locations.
