''A bilateral strategic partnership has been developing successfully in 2006,'' Mr Putin said in his message to President A PJ Abdul Kalam.
''New heights will be attained in political, trade, economic, research, technological and cultural cooperation between the two countries during the forthcoming visit of the Russian President to New Delhi, in January,'' the Kremlin press service quoted the message as saying.
In a separate message to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Russian President said, ''The joint efforts by India and Russia, have strengthened their strategic partnership.'' He also expressed the hope that ''the talks in New Delhi scheduled for January will spur progress in bilateral relations and outline new large-scale goals for the future.'' Mr Putin will participate in the Republic Day Parade, as the chief guest of honour. He is the first Russian President to be accorded such an honour by India.
