Vijayawada, Dec 31 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Samrakshana Samiti (APSS) Founder President S Muralidhara Rao said today said the time was not ripe for bifurcation of the state, Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rao said two previous struggles on the issue had not yielded good results and only culminated in change of leadership in the state.
Mr Rao said during the Jail Telangana Agitation of 1969, the then Chief Minister K Brahamananda Reddy was asked to step down.
Similarly, after the Jai Andhra Agitation of 1972, the then Chief Mnister P V Narasimha Rao was removed to pacify the agitators, he claimed.
The two agitations failed due to the intervention of selfish political leaders, he alleged.
He said the previous agitations and the present one were entirely different and felt it was not proper to carve out a separate Telangana state.
He flayed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi President K Chandrasekhar Rao for raking up the issue of statehood for Telangana.
