Pune, Dec 28 (UNI) The Indian Olympics Association (IOA) has given its recognition to the Roll Ball Federation of India (RBFI).

The IOA, at its annual general body meeting (AGM) held in Delhi recently, gave the recognition to the Indian-born game. Roll Ball is a mixture of skating and basketball, pioneered by city-based physical education teacher of a local school Raju Dabhade.

Mr Dabhade, the founder president of the RBFI, told UNI here today that his concerted efforts for the past two years has fulfilled his cherished dream of getting the much-needed recognition by the IOA.

The RBFI has been struggling for the past two years after having conducted three national championships, one international meet and the junior and sub-junior championships to popularise the game throughout the country, he said, adding that the Federation had also hosted an all-India training camp at Mussorie earlier this year.

Mr Dabhade said now the RBFI will seek similar recognition from the Maharashtra Olympics Association (MOA) as well. This recognition will help the game in its further promotion and proliferation. The game has tremendous following all over the globe, he added.
