Venkaiah rules out emergence of Third Front at Nat level

Chennai, Dec 26 (UNI) BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today ruled out the possibility of emergence of a third front at the national level, saying there was ''no alternative to the Congress or the BJP as of now.'' ''It (formation of a third front) has been a dream of many. But I don't think it is possible or feasible at present,'' he said, reacting to AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa's recent statement that there was a possibility for a third front at the national level.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Naidu said the country had enough experiences on third front earlier, with ''the National Front becoming a national front and the United Front turning out to be a divided front.'' Mr Naidu, however, said the UPA Government at the Centre would collapse, the moment the third front was formed, but the BJP would not work in this direction. ''We prefer to wait and watch the downfall of the government,'' he added.

Though the petrol prices had come down in the international market, there was no corresponding reduction in the price in the country, he said, adding that the parties that were supporting the Congress-led government should consider how long ''the anti-poor and the anti-people Government should continue.''
