Two LeT militants arrested in Jammu region

Jammu, Dec 26 (UNI) Security forces arrested two militants of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit from Rajouri and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here today.

While one militant was arrested from the periphery of Doda town this morning, the other was nabbed at Dargai in the border district of Rajouri last evening, senior police officials told UNI.

Doda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manohar Singh said a LeT militant Mohammad Iqbal alias Abu Sohail of Bharat village was arrested this morning.

''Iqbal was active in (year) 2000 and was arrested in 2001. He again joined militancy in 2005 and was involved in the November 6 killing of one Jaffer Hussain in the town,'' Mr Singh said.

Earlier, SSP Rajouri Farooq Khan said a Lashkar militant Mushtaq Shah alias Abu Harera was nabbed last evening in a joint operation of security forces.

One SLR, which he had snatched after killing a village defence committee member, 30 rounds and some grenades were recovered from his possession, he said.

Massive programme to provide basic amenities to urban poor

Hyderabad, Dec 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government plans to spend a sum of Rs 5357 crore including Rs 2509 crore of Central funds to provide drinking water, sanitation, health, education and housing for urban poor in all towns in the state. Marina Project to be revived: Minister

Kochi, Dec 26 (UNI) Kerala Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said the Government has taken steps to reivive the stalled Marina Project and has also earmarked Rs 30 crore for various development projects in the city. Veterinary college at Rewa

Bhopal, Dec 26 (UNI) The veterinary and animal husbandry college at Rewa will start functioning from July next year. Two such institutions- the veterinary college at Mhow and another at Jabalpur- were set up before the formation of Madhya Pradesh, while a veterinary college was set up at Durg in undivided Madhya Pradesh in the 80s.
