Soldier, driver killed in militant firing in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 26 (UNI) A soldier and a driver were killed and another personnel wounded when militants fired upon a vehicle carrying them at Rekh Litar in Pulwama district of south Kashmir today, an Army spokesman said.

He said militants opened heavy fire on a Tata Sumo carrying soldiers at Rekh Litar in Wachi area of Pulwama district.

The driver of the vehicle was killed on the spot while two soldiers sustained serious injuries in the firing, the spokesman added.

He said one of the soldiers later died in a hospital here.

The condition of the other soldier was stated to be critical.

The spokesman said search operation was in progress when reports last came in.
