SEC specifies documents for identification in LB polls

Hyderabad, Dec 26 (UNI) The State Election Commission (SEC) today specified the list of documents that could be produced by the voters to establish their identify in local bodies polls.

SEC Secretary G N Rao said in a statement here Identiy Cards, Passports, Driving Licenses, PAN cards, service Identity cards and property documents were valid for identification during elections.

Mr Rao said the document would be enumerated to identify the entire family. Possessing the documents did not confer a right on the person to vote in the local body polls, if his name was not enrolled in the voters list, he added.

Fire destroys documents in SMC ward office

Surat, Dec 26 (UNI) A fire today broke out in a ward office of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) at Adajan Patiya area here, gutting official documents and office furniture. Fire brigade sources said the fire broke out due to a short-circuit at around 1100 hrs. However, no casualties were reported. The firemen subsequently doused the fire, sources added.
