SEC registers Lok Satta as political party

Hyderabad, Dec 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) today accorded registration to the Lok Satta Party as a political party without a reserved symbol.

In a statement here, SCS Secretary G N Rao said exercising the powers conferred under Article 243 of the Constitution, regarding registration of political parties and allotment of symbols, the SEC registered the Lok Satta Party, headed by Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, as a political party wihtout a reserved symbol.

He said though the Commission had received three objections, it did not find those to have any valid grounds.

Only one nomination for civic poll in Nagpur on first day

Nagpur, Dec 26 (UNI) Only one candidate filed his papers on the first day today of nominations for the February 1 elections to the general body of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). The lone nomination was filed by former deputy mayor Ashok Jeevandas Jain from ward number 63 (Mahaveer Ward), Municipal Superintendent Ravindra Pagey told UNI. Ministers exhort NRIS to contribute for development

Vijayawada, Dec 26 (UNI) Three Andhra Pradesh ministers today appealed to Non-Resident Indians (NRIS) to contribute for the development of Krishna district. Participating in the district development forum programme 'vikas krishna' here, the ministers--J C Diwakar Reddy, Koneru Ranga Rao and Pinamaneni Venkateswara Rao said as the NRIS were from this district and financially well placed, they should come forward to invest in the progress of the district.
