Reliance Comm equity shareholders to meet

Mumbai, Dec 26: Reliance Communications Ltd has informed BSE that pursuant to the order of High Court of Bombay, a meeting of the equity shareholders of the company will be held on January 27.

The purpose of the meeting is to consider and, if thought fit, approve with or without modification, the scheme of arrangement between the company (First Demerged Company) and Reliance Telecom Ltd (Second Demerged Company) and Reliance Telecom Infrastructure Ltd (Resulting Company) (the Scheme).

Rupee closes higher against USD at 44.44/45

Mumbai, Dec 26: The Rupee today closed higher at 44.44/45 against the US dollar with a modest gain of eleven paise compared to the previous close of 44.56/57, on sustained heavy selling by foreign banks and local investors, dealers said.The Indian Rupee rose against the US dollar on Friday as tight cash supply in the banking system made the market favour the higher yielding local currency. 170 students take ill after food poisoning in Buldhana

Nagpur, Dec 26 (UNI) As many as 170 children were taken ill after they consumed peppermint sweets and complained of nausea and dizziness in Ganpur village of Buldhana district here today. While 108 had been admitted to the Rural Hospital at Mehkar, 62 others were discharged after the treatment. However, all of them were stated to be out of danger.
