Police bust international drug racket, arrest six

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) With the arrest of six people, including a Pakistani and two Nigerians, police have busted an international drug racket and seized 17.87 kg heroin.

Vinay, Tejender, residents of Amritsar, Kalpesh, two Nigerian nationals Ebenezer and Kingsley, and Afzal from Lahore were arrested in various raids spanning several days, the police said.

The contraband recovered from them is worth Rs 18 crore in the international market.

The police said Afzal and his accomplice in Lahore, Zulfikar, were operating the entire network and their main conduits were Vinay and Tejender at Amritsar.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that Afzal had visited India thrice earlier as well.

He had established his links in Amritsar through Vinay and Tejender and developed a distribution network in Delhi which included the Nigerians.

Further investigation is in progress.
