PCP demands govt to probe land grabbing

Tirupati, Dec 26 (UNI) The Praja Congress Party (PCP) today demanded the Andhra Pradesh Government to constitute a committee to probe alleged illegal grabbing and selling of lands belonging to poor at Tundla village in Renigunta mandal of Chittoor district.

In a letter to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, PCP founder and President Narra Munichandra alleged that about 59 acres of land, collected during the 'Bhoodan' movement and donated to Ardodaya Mandali Organisation at Hyderabad by Acharya Vinoba Bhave for development of Khadi industry, was occupied by some Congress party leaders. They had also illegally, started construction work without proper permission.

Mulayam avoids comment on Kavita case

Ratlam, MP, Dec 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today dodged questions on the turmoil in his state's politics in the wake of the murder of the Meerut-based Chaudhry Charan Singh University's Lecturer Kavita Rani. Manipur boys, girls in Sepak Takraw finals

Chandigarh, Dec 26 (UNI) Holders Manipur maintained their winning spree and entered the finals in both boy' and girls' sections in the team competitions of the 10th Junior National Sepak Takraw Championships here today. In the boys semi-finals played at the St Joseph's School ground in Sector 44, Manipur displayed overall supremacy as they defeated Delhi by 2-0 (21-12 23-21 and 21-7 21-12) and Andhra Pradesh snuffed out the challenge of spirited Tamil Nadu.....

Jasjeet fires nine-under 63 for opening round lead

Kolkata, Dec 26 (UNI) Jasjeet Singh dazzled with an opening round nine-under 63 at the Royal Challenge RCGC Cup which began at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here today. A distant seven strokes behind the leader was the duo of last week's Goodricke East India Amateur Golf Championship winner Himmat Rai and thrice Sri-Lankan Amateur winner Simarjeet Singh.
