Nikkei average slips as Toyota falls

TOKYO, Dec 26 (Reuters) The Nikkei share average slipped 0.13 percent at the start of trade on Tuesday as investors sold shares of Toyota Motor Corp. and other companies that have booked strong gains in recent sessions.

The Nikkei was down 14.67 points at 17,078.22 as of 0004 GMT.

The broader TOPIX index was down 0.22 percent at 1,661.33.

TOKYO, Dec 26 (Reuters) The yen fell to a fresh two-month low against the dollar as Japanese consumption and consumer price data on Tuesday failed to dispel doubts about whether the Bank of Japan will raise interest rates in January. The government said core consumer prices rose 0.2 percent in November from a year earlier, a result in line with market expectations, while all-households spending fell 0.7 percent in November, smaller than the expected decline.....

BEIJING, Dec 24 (Reuters) The Chinese government has sacked a senior Communist Party boss from the booming northern coastal province of Shandong for ''serious discipline violation'', the official Xinhua news agency said today. Du Shicheng was Party chief for Qingdao city, a magnet for South Korean and Japanese investment and the venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympic sailing events. He was also deputy provincial Party head.
