Narmada circuit project okayed

Bhopal, Dec 26 (UNI) The Tourism ministry has approved the Madhya Pradesh government's Jabalpur destination development project and the Narmada circuit project, official sources said.

The Jabalpur project, costing Rs 4.3 crore, envisages development of tourist information centre at Bhedaghat, trekking routes in forests on Dumna road, beautification and development of traffic island at Russel Chowk, beautification of Hanuman Tal lake, development of trekking routes behind Madan Mahal fort, development of Gwarighat and provision of signages within Jabalpur city.

The Rs 14.40 crore Narmada circuit project aims at developing tourist infrastructure along the parikrama route of the Narmada river, which originates at Amarkantak and flows through Madhya Pradesh for about 1100 Km upto Barwani and merge into the Arabian Sea via Gujarat.

Under the project, a number of works, including day shelter complex, ghats and lighting arrangements, would be carried out in Amarkantak, Dindori, Mandla, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad, Pachmarhi and Nemawar.

Govt denies report on Indo-Pak 'secret' parleys

New Delhi, Dec 26: The government today strongly denied a media report describing as ''factually incorrect'' that Indian and Pakistani officials had met in Lahore to discuss President Pervez Musharraf's four-point proposals on Jammu and Kashmir and the Siachen issue.''The report is factually incorrect,'' External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in response to a question. Airlines suffer losses despite heavy passenger traffic

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) A booming economy led to red-hot growth in air transport sector during 2006 as the government managed to privatise Delhi and Mumbai airports despite dogmatic Leftists. Uttaranchal experiences drop in temperature

Dehradun, Dec 27 (UNI) Uttaranchal is experiencing cold freezing weather for the last couple of days, with temperature dipping down. According to the Weather department, the capital city Dehradun is under cloud cover due to western disturbances, with few place experiencing slight drizzles.
